Who would have known…that a beanie could be so entertaining? We were at my mom and dad’s house when my ‘lil Buckaroo tugged at my fingers and said, “Aunt Jay, Aunt Jay :: tug, pull:: let’s go in my room.” I smiled and said to her, “Uumm, whose room?” She picked up on my sarcasm said, “Let’s go in your room.” “That’s right, Roo. It was MY room looong before you stole it and made it your room.” I like to tease her about that.

When we walked into my old room, I look around. Minus the toys and giant plush Snow White book on the floor, it looked close to the way I left it over 5 years ago. The twin bed from Pier 1 is in the same spot. The windows are still dressed in the same drapes that Bucky spent over an hour hanging up for me. The desk was the same, but it looked smaller than I remembered. Other than my Buckaroo’s personal added pieces, it was a walk down memory lane.

I started digging through my drawers thinking I may get lucky and find an old check I forgot to cash from my part time employment days at Bealls. I said, “Roo, what do you want to do in here?” She said, “Let’s play.” So, I pulled out a beanie and stuck it on her head, and she was wired from that point on.

Goofy girl, thought it was so funny! So, I let her do her thing and started taking pictures. She giggled, she laughed and made other crazy, but amusing noises. It turned into her laughing and me laughing and before I knew it, I had no idea what we were laughing at. Luckily, Uncle B wasn’t in the room to witness this or he probably would have suggested we both seek professional help.

Her laughter is contagious. I love it– can’t get enough of it.

Hello00… department of transportation. You need to change the population sign, as our little town just grew.

Meet our new nephew. Baby Grady arrived in time to make 2010 end a little bit sweeter.

When B and I went to welcome the new guy (and high five mom and dad), he was asleep in the nursery. We didn’t get to hold him; we just got to awe over him.

Last Sunday, B was holding Grady. He looked at me and asked, “You think if we leave and take him with us anyone would notice?” I volunteered to go get the truck. Then, we both came to our senses.

Proud Uncle and Super Mom. Jenn delivered baby Grady without any help of an epidural. I just think wow. I’ve been told, by many reliable moms, that this is no easy task. Jenn’s the woman.

Just as we were about to leave, we seen the nurse wheeling baby Grady back to mom. I quickly welcomed him with my flash.

Then we saw him off with a quick smile, goodbye, and a silent prayer of thanks to God for hearing our prayers.

She is too cute…this time of year. She’s cute all year, really. But I especially love her in the winter time.

Hi baby girl.

She puts on her winter coat and starts looking like a minature buffalo. Love her! A few years ago, B found Darla on Craig’s list.

He made the mistake of showing the pic to me. We thought Darla and Dewey would be good for each other. Best buds. That didn’t work out so well.

One thing I’ve learned while living in the country is: strays are a dime a dozen. I will not discuss the dog population at our place. I’m keeping this post short.

Despite the fact that Darla is very much out numbered by the dogs, she tolerates them. All of them. That’s my girl.

‘lil man

Tis the season…to take family photos! When my cousin’s wife asked me to take their family photo, I was excited. Well, her guys…um, not so much. Especially Ty, the ‘lil man.

Dad was a good sport, but look at the ‘lil man, would ya? I felt right at home. This is the same face B gave me when I asked him if we could put up Christmas lights on the house, again, this year. Shocking question, I know. I use the term we very loosley. I meant we as in, “ Baby, I’ll open the boxes, straighten the lights, hand them to you. I’ll be with you in spirit as you climb on top of our steep roof , fight the ice cold wind, hold on for dear life, and hang them. You know, like we did last year!”

Again, B’s expression. No words needed. I firmly believe you should hang up Christmas lights. It strengthens your marriage, sort of.

So, I started talkin’ to the ‘lil man. He showed me his boo boo. We were friends.

When I asked to use one of Ty’s favorite toys, I was expecting mom to bring me a…oh I don’t know…ugh, a funny lookin’ stuffed animal? Oh no. I got a hermonica. :: Please see my post from yesterday:: I was holding the camera and attempting to hold a tune. Not to mention, my balance. :: Again, reference yesterday’s post. It will help you sympathize with me:: Well, Ty got a kick out of it. If he could use complete sentences, I’m sure he was asking Daddy, “Who is this clown?”

After a few good laughs, Ty was a champ. Like B, he tolerated me for the rest of the day. Thanks ‘‘lil man.

All I want for Christmas…is a little bit more time. Santa, just wrap me up a few months of extra time. I’d spend it sharing the 6,586,254 photos I’ve taken since the last time I’ve posted. It’s been, ugh, how many months?

Since I’m married to a farmer, let’s talk weather for half a second. It’s cooling down. This is the time of year my dad gets in his recliner with the Snuggie that my sister, Bucky, gave him . He watches his team. How ’bout them Cowboys? I’m not at home anymore, but I’m just going to guess that there’s been a lot of hollering and less cheering.

Win or lose, this gal doesn’t know the differnce. On Father’s Day, Bucky surprised Daddy, and Roo’s daddy, with pics of Buckaroo in her Dallas Cowboys cheerleading outfit. She was all over the place.

It takes me back to my Jr. High and HS days. I was a cheerleader in 7th grade. All my friends were cheerleaders. I wanted to be cheerleader. I had zero skills, but I think the judges left their glasses at home the day of try-outs. It was a good experience for one year, but it wasn’t for me. In HS, I became the mascot. I loved it. I miss it today. I wonder if my Buckaroo will be a cheerleader or the mascot. WEEEELLL, if I have MY WAY….she’ll be in the band! Slim chance of that. Our whole family is musically challenged.

our dog dewey

I took our second oldest child….for a car ride to town. Normally, this isn’t a big deal. But, he’s a big boy.

Dewey has quickly grown to be one of my favorite dogs. He’s old, so the days of jumping, running and playing fetch have come and gone.

It was quite a workout getting the 200+ lb giant with stiff joints in and out of the car.

He enjoys going places, so it’s hard to tell him no sometimes. He did really well at Petco.

He sat.

He laid. And not too long after that, he did this.

I feel ya, Dewey. I feel ya.

So, it’s been awhile… since I clicked in. I went into hibernation this winter. I’ve been really busy, and when I’m not busy, I’m busy pretending I’m busy. I feel more productive that way. This is just one of many reasons, I’ve failed to post in a while. Lookie there.

You may remeber my friend, Faith.

Well, with some help from her hubby, they now have a baby boy.

Case is a real cuttie.

Even B got a kick out of the ‘lil guy.

I like watching B with kids: Daddy…well ok, not MY Daddy. But maybe one day, he’ll be myyy baaby daaddy.

Of course, Case wasn’t thinkin’ about none of that.

Oh, the coversations to be had.

rain and blue skies

I can see clearly now… the rain is gone. It’s gonna be a bright, briiight sun shiny day. I like that song. Someday, we’ll see the blue skies again. These stormy days make me lazy, though. They also do a real number on my hair. I don’t like sloppy rain. You know, the kind that leaves mist and moisture in air. Yeah, my hair just goes from smooth to fuzzy. It’s not even a cute, teddy bear fuzzy. It’s more like a velcro fuzzy. Lovely.

For now, I’m just enjoying the rain and reliving the blue skies. B and I took our buckaroo to the park one Sunday after church.

I got to watch these two play.

That’s always interestingly funny.

Kids have an effect on you, and Roo is no exception.

She brings out the inner child in us all.

Look at those two.

I’m not sure who’s having more fun.

The playground is a big place.

So, Roo had to check it all out.

I did my best to keep up with the little gal.

That’s not always an easy task. An extra hand is always nice.

Lucky for me, I have B.

lesson #68

Lesson #68…from an aunt. Toy boxes are overrated.

Just get a spice cabinet.

I like things to be nice, neat, and organized. My problem is not getting stuff this way, but keeping them that way. That’s my problem.

Since Roo was having so much fun, I asked her to alphabetize my spice cabinet.

She got it done, no questions asked.

Next visit, we’ll work on doing some algorithms.
